How to play

Press Start and the game hands you one of 39 countries. You have 30 seconds to draw its outline from memory.

Draw with a mouse, a finger, or a stylus. You can lift off and start a new line whenever you like, which helps with islands and detached regions. Undo removes the last line, Clear wipes the canvas, and Done ends the round early. When the clock runs out, whatever is on the canvas gets scored.

How scoring works

Where you draw on the canvas makes no difference, and neither does size. Your drawing and the reference outline are both scaled to the same box before they are compared, so the only thing that counts is the shape.

The game samples points along your lines and compares them with points on the reference outline in both directions. It combines average and root-mean-square distances into the deviation shown on the result screen, then converts that value to a score from 0 to 100. From 85 up the game calls you a cartographer. Below 15 it stops being polite.

Reading the result screen

The grey shape is the real outline and the black lines are your drawing. Each dot is a sampled point on your drawing, joined to the nearest reference point by a short line: solid blue when the sample falls inside the country, dashed red when it falls outside.
